End of Term 2 2018
It feels as though Term 2 flew by!!! The Learning Support Team would like to thank all of our students and their families for the hard work they continue to put into their tutoring sessions and follow-up homework. We are all really proud of the progress you continue to make and we hope you have a well-deserved break over the holidays.
Monitoring – Most students have been doing assessments with their tutors over the past few weeks so we can track progress of students and make changes to teaching plans. Your child’s tutor will be sending you some information to update you on your child’s progress soon. If your child began tutoring during Term 1 and 2 they will not have been assessed yet due to only being on our programme for a short time. Rest assured they will be monitored after completing two full terms of tutoring.
Upstart Magazine – We have been lucky enough to receive complimentary Upstart magazines for all of our Primary and Intermediate aged students. Tutors will give their students a copy at the start of next term. This magazine is a great read and includes lots of competitions and games. If there are any students who may like to have some writing published in the Upstart magazine, please chat to your tutor as we have been advised that Upstart would love to publish some of our students work!
Dyslexia Potential – Dyslexia Potential is going to start offering online group classes, and have developed an online programme for families and schools. To see how their online programme can help your family have to look at their website. These classes provide students aged 10-14 with an opportunity to grow, connect and to feel part of a community they will develop important resilience and self-esteem skills that will ensure they make the most out of life and school. This is different to Learning Support tutoring as it offers confidence boosting support through an online video chat platform. There are very limited spaces, please follow this link to register your interest so we can be in contact with you first, it will be first in first served until we have enough facilitators running these classes.
Made by Dyslexia – Made by Dyslexia is a global charity led by successful dyslexics. They have a wonderful Facebook Page which is regularly updated with wonderful videos and inspirational stories of people who have dyslexia. If you are a Facebook user, please head over and ‘like’ their page.
We particularly like this recent video with Keira Knightly where she explains how clever and imaginative people with Dyslexia are. We couldn’t agree more!
Once again, have a wonderful break over the next two weeks and we look forward to continuing to support your children with their learning in Term 3.
The Learning Support Team 🙂
